VAUX DE CERNAY WALK

A beautiful walk west of Cernay through the Maréchaux State Forest, where sandstone quarries were used to pave the streets of Paris in the 19th century. The trail follows the Vaux stream and the pond of Cernay Abbey, offering stunning views of the former abbey and the waterfalls of the Vaux stream.

CERNAY TO SENLISSE WALK

Following countryside trails in a loop, this walk takes you to the Cernay pond, old sandstone quarries, the hamlets of Notre Dame des Roses and Garnes, the church and pigeon house of Tour Senlisse, and the monument in memory of the painter L.G. Pelouse, founder of the Cernay painters in the 19th century, inspired by the Barbizon school.

YVETTE RIVER WALK

Starting from our house, this walk forms a large loop around the Yvette valley. Winding between forests and fields, you will discover the hamlet of Grand Ambesis, the beautiful churches of Saint-Nom and Maincourt. The highlight of this walk is a scenic clearing with a breathtaking view of the magnificent Château de Dampierre, which can be visited.

JEAN RACINE WALK

Chevreuse, Milon-la-Forêt, their churches, a pond, and the Château de la Madeleine, the headquarters of the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Natural Park, overlooking the town.

FOUR CASTLES WALK

The village of Herbouvilliers, the Château de Breteuil where Charles Perrault resided, Chevreuse, the church of Choisel, the washhouse, and the Château de Mauvières in Saint Forget, where Cyrano de Bergerac lived, and the Château de Méridon… A walk combining architectural and literary heritage.

PORT ROYAL ABBEY WALK
13km – elevation gain 215m – duration 4h
This walk forms a large loop around the Abbey of Port Royal, founded in the 13th century, where the famous Jean Racine spent his youth. The route, through woods and fields, follows the Rhodon valley, a stream that flows into the Yvette, and allows you to admire the remaining buildings of the abbey, barns, and dovecote, which are classified as historical monuments.
